Riomar or "Old Riomar" as it is also commonly called is the first area of the barrier island to have been developed back in the early 1920's by a group of people from Cinncinati, Ohio. Riomar Country Club is the oldest golf course in Vero Beach and is its only oceanfront golf course. Riomar's appeal lies in it's understated elegance. Many roads are not paved and are lined with canopies of ancient oaks. Riomar gives us a glimpse into what Florida living was like in decades past and is a highly desirable area. Some of the original homes from the 1920's still exist and have been updated and have been well cared for.
